Winter Honeymoons
If you are planning a beautiful winter wedding, you have some really great choices for a honeymoon that you do not have with a summer wedding. You can always plan a trip to the warm tropics as a break from the cold. Miami and New Orleans are wonderful winter honeymoon vacations. On the other hand, you may also head into snow country for a real winter honeymoon…
Going for Snow
A skiing honeymoon is a wonderful way to spend an exciting week with your new spouse. The most popular ski resorts in America are the two western resorts in Colorado, Vale and Aspen, and the Eastern resort in Vermont, Aspen. But, there are many other fine and less pricey ski resorts that offer great honeymoon packages. In the West, you can consider Sun Valley in Idaho, Copper Mountain and Keystone in Colorado, and Jackson Hole, in Wyoming, while in the East you can consider Killington and Stowe in Vermont, Lake Placid in New York, and Bretton Woods in New Hampshire, just to name a few.
Each of these ski locations has a significant number of hotels and resorts with a wide range of amenities and at a range of prices from which to choose.
Things to consider
A ski honeymoon can be a particularly romantic experience. The thrill of flying down the mountain can then be topped off with hot tubbing, sitting around a fireplace drinking hot toddies, or eating in fine restaurants and shopping in beautiful boutiques.
But there are some issues to consider if your trip is going to be a memorable one in the best sense. First, if you choose a ski honeymoon, are you both skiing at the same level or will you be spending the day on one set of trails while your new spouse is on a different set? Second, if you have not been skiing for a while, make certain that you prepare for the rigors of a downhill run at the same time you are working on all your other wedding preparations. Sore and painful muscles can keep you in the lodge instead of on the slopes. Being out of shape and out of practice can also result in injuries. So, plan for an active and safe experience as well as an unforgettable honeymoon.
