Honeymoons in Europe
There are so many wonderful and fascinating destinations for a European honeymoon that it’s hard to limit the list to just a few. Your final decision may depend upon whether you speak a particular foreign language and whether you want to stay in a city or travel about a country or a region. Also, the cost of staying in a great European capital is more expensive than staying in a less well-known destination.
The Great European Capitals
London, Paris, or Rome honeymoons all compete for the top of the list for the most popular and romantic European honeymoon cities. All very expensive, these cities each have their own distinct charms. London is probably the easiest city in which to get around because of the language and the best airfares. Although the summer fares are the highest to London, a summer visit may be a better experience than a cold, dark and rainy winter trip. The same can be said for Paris and Rome, although they can be terribly crowded with tourists in the heart of the summer. For that reason, consider an early fall or late spring visit to any of these great honeymoon destinations.
Alternative Cites
There are some alternative cities to the top three which are also exciting and romantic and easy to access – the best of which are probably Amsterdam and Madrid. These two cities are less expensive to stay in but are also filled with beautiful architecture, amazing museums, shops and places to visit.
Out of the Way Spots
Turkey is one of the most exotic, stunning and least well-visited spots in Europe with Istanbul and possibly the greatest example of ancient Greek and Roman remains in the world.
For a honeymoon adventure you will never forget and one that is less expensive than going to Paris, consider a trip to Budapest. Far less expensive than other capital cities, this ancient but vibrant city is filled with beautiful and romantic experiences waiting to happen.
Wherever you decide to go in Europe, remember that you will need to have your passport and possibly visa arrangements made months in advance. Unless you are a seasoned European visitor, this trip will require extensive planning, packing and advice from your travel agent, guidebooks and well-traveled friends.
